The Recipes in Appliqué
I discovered raw linen when I used it as a background for my 10 of Spades quilt made for Art Quilts: Playing With a Full Deck. Raw linen is not conducive to the hand technique (running stitch) that I was using at the time. Because of its weight and stability, the linen made stitching with a machine easier.
I connected my love for appliqué with my interest in collecting recipes and started making the little recipe quilts. Arrangement for Mixed Greens with Edible Flowers and Raspberry Vinaigrette made it into Quilt National 2005. The video shows the series.
